Alton

Alton Estate is situated the in Maskeliya Upcot agro climatic area in the Nuwara Eliya district. The Estate is 10Km from Maskeliya and 22Km from Hatton. The principal crop on the Estate is tea. At an elevation between 4700 and 5550 feet, the Estate covers an area of 350 hectares (865 acres).

The history of the Estate can be traced back to 1927, when the Estate was owned by Ceylon Tea Plantations Company and managed by George Steuarts & Co till the Nationalisation of plantations in 1975. With the privatisation of estates in 1992, Alton was taken over by Horana Plantations PLC
